The Beauty Secrets of Coffee - Cellulite

Cellulite is caused by a set of causes and factors such as metabolic disorders, alterations in the connective tissue structure, lymphatic and microcirculatory system disorders, but also by the action of estrogens, the female sex hormones, an element that seems to explain the predilection that cellulite has for women.

There are many possible remedies that can alleviate or eliminate the unpleasant "orange peel". Active substances that have the ability to stimulate the synthesis of growth factors, first of all transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), as well as proteins of extracellular matrix, such as collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycans, can be important tools to improve the clinical and aesthetic aspects of cellulite.

According to the results demonstrated by Brazilian scientists, the incubation of human fibroblasts with green coffee oil produces a dose-dependent stimulation in the synthesis of collagen, elastin, and glycosaminoglycans, in addition to increasing the release of the growth factors TGF-β and GM-CSF. Scientists have found a 1.5-fold increase in elastin production, a 1.8-fold increase in collagen production and 2-fold increase in the amount of glycosaminoglycans compared to the controls. With regard to growth factors, increases up to 3-fold in the levels of TGF-β and a nearly 9-fold of GM-CSF were observed in relation to the control.

This clearly qualifies green coffee oil as a very efficient anti-cellulite cosmetic ingredient.

Cosmetic or demopharmaceutical compositions containing cafestol, kahweol are useful for slimming treatments including prevent and/or treat cellulite or orange peel and/ or to refine contours of the face, skin firming, to reduce the steatomery of the thighs, to decrease the volume/fatty overload of the spare tire at the hips, to reduce 'love handles', both on men and women.

Antioxidants not only protect the formula of the product from oxidation, and in particular the rancidity of fatty substances of vegetable origin, but also help the skin to fight against free radicals, factors of premature cutaneous ageing.

Studies have demonstrated the undeniable role of antioxidants in coffee - as active agents in anti-ageing, slimming and anti-cellulite products.
